Chapter 1: Transmigrated as a 100kg fat chubby girl?!

The universe is filled with endless possibilities. In either case, some mysterious stuff happened. When Lin Tianyin1 woke up from her muddle-headed daze, she realized that she had transmigrated.

Ordinarily, one would expect a standard sequence of shock, joy, despair, before finally calming down… but, none of that emotional outburst happened. Lin Tianyin stared blankly with her mouth gaping. The only mirror of this medieval-style house reflected a huge silhouette. Even after half a day, she still hadn’t yet collected herself.

Could somebody please tell her… how was it possible that the second most beautiful girl in the class suddenly became a pudgy faced, big fatty who clearly weighed over 100kg?!2

Accepting this cruel reality was definitely not easy. Lin Tianyin wasted a very very long time in a complete daze. It was only when someone entered her room—a petite, dainty, and beautiful black-haired girl who had come to call her for dinner—did Lin Tianyin finally realize what had happened to her.

She… it seemed like she had just transmigrated into the Mary Sue3 novel she had just read…

Ehh… While watching the large eyed and black-haired beautiful girl talking non-stop in front of her, Lin Tianyin’s thoughts drifted off to outer space. It was really quite difficult to describe that novel… at best, extremely painful.

The beautiful girl before her was her little sister in the novel, or in other words, the original heroine of the story. She could staunchly affirm that the novel’s author, Sayuko4, was a chuuni5 and harebrained writer, and made the setting of the entire story extraordinarily stupid. Currently they were located on a continent called Faros, and far away in the distant fringes of this world there were a group of demons who wanted to conquer the earth. The male lead was the prince of a country, and in order to defeat the demon lord, he set out on an adventure and met the heroine. This heroine was the descendent of an ancient clan of magicians and possessed the ability to heal wounds, so she thus attracted the notice of the prince and joined him on the journey against the demon lord. All of this sounds pretty standard, right? However, not long after the heroine joined the party, the prince was completely captivated by her. Even the party’s knight, rogue thief, village priest, and frankly any man in the story who had a slightly attractive face fell in love with her. This is the entire point of a Mary Sue novel after all, so that’s understandable. All Mary Sue novels have a rival in love, so the author included one. However, what in the world was the author was thinking?! The villainess that was jealous of the heroine’s popularity and wrecked havoc while attempting the seduce the heroine’s hubbies… wasn’t even an outsider. Rather she was the heroine’s very own ugly, pudgy-faced, and likely over 100kg elder sister!

What the fuck?6 Author, are you kidding me?!

When Lin Tianyin read this setting, she practically wanted to rip apart the book in anger. The author probably wanted to emphasize the heroine’s beauty, so she made the rival elder sister so fugly that you couldn’t look straight at her. But that was exactly the problem! No matter how you looked at it, the elder sister didn’t have a single bit of competitiveness, right?! Why the hell was she stubbornly stuck in between the heroine’s harem?! No matter how badly the male leads humiliated her, she didn’t shrink back, and instead even attempted even more disastrous methods… WTF! If she had such willpower, couldn’t she do something better with that?! At least try losing some weight first, okay?!

Because she couldn’t bear this god stupid Mary Sue setting, Lin Tianyin was unable to read this novel to the end, and she used the book as a floor protector by placing it under a table leg… but the next day, she found herself transmigrated as the heroine Milona’s elder sister, Shanoa.

As a fat woman with monstrous strength, her role in the story was fated to be miserable. Even though she didn’t read it to the end, Lin Tianyin clearly remembered that midway through, the deeply-in-love prince slew the elder sister his sword because because she injured the heroine during one of her plots.

Whatever. This didn’t have much to do with Lin Tianyin anyways. After all, with a 100kg body, she wouldn’t be so silly to even get close to the heroine’s harem…

“What’s wrong, dear sister? Does the fine food today not appeal to your appetite?”

Standing in front of her, Milona seemed to notice that Lin Tianyin had drifted away, and she couldn’t help but ask worriedly. It was only then that Lin Tianyin remembered that at the beginning of the story, the author had described in detail that the the heroine’s older sister was glutton, and ate tons and tons at every meal. If not, she’d have a terrible temper and steal stuff to eat from the neighbors, so overall was a huge headache to deal with…

But she really was so hungry…

The voracious appetite of this body violently lurched and urged Lin Tianyin towards food, but when she looked at huge round monster in the mirror again, Lin Tianyin felt terribly grief-stricken—she was originally a pretty girl that was one of the campus belles. How could she transmigrate and become a big fatty?! She absolutely couldn’t accept her current self, and as she looked at the glistening puppy eyes of her younger sister in front of her and smelled the aroma of food that drifted up from downstairs, Lin Tianyin swallowed her saliva with a gulp. Struggling, she told the heroine of the story with difficulty: “I’m not eating… I’m going to go on a diet.”

It’s hard to say exactly what happened, but Lin Tianyin words seemed to trigger a chemical reaction. Her little sister, Milona, widened her eyes in extraordinary disbelief and exclaimed with a shrill voice.

“Heavens?! A diet! Are you serious, dear sister? But you’re not fat at all!”

…Thank you, little witch. Though I know exactly what you’re actually thinking when you say that.

The corner of Lin Tianyin’s mouth twitched, and the fat on her pudgy face jiggled along with the change in her expression. However, she stiffly told her angelic and innocent-looking sister: “No… Milona, I’m too fat. You don’t know this, but when I sleep, I can hear the bed creak and groan while supporting my weight. If I don’t start losing weight, I’ll end up ruining the floor of our house.

“But I think you’re just fine like this.” Milona seemed hurt as she looked at Lin Tianyin, and she shook her head. “The last time you tried to lose weight, you couldn’t control yourself and ended up climbing into our neighbor Uncle Hansen’s chicken coop in the middle of the night and swallowed all of the eggs in there whole… it was seriously too scary.”

“I swear I won’t be like that.” The corner of Lin Tianyin’s mouth twitched even more, and she was even more convinced that the original author who wrote all of this about Shanoa was definitely a freak.

“If you can’t do it, don’t force yourself…”

Apparently accepting Lin Tianyin’s statement, Milona nodded worriedly and backed up to the door, and then told Lin Tianyin that food was downstairs on the table. If she was hungry and can’t stand it anymore, she could come downstairs and eat.

“I know…”

Lin Tianyin painfully thanked Milona and then closed the door. It hurt even more when she collapsed on the bed with a palump.

This appetite really was difficult to control… that said, when was it now? Has the demon lord attacked the Faros Continent yet? She vaguely remembered that before meeting the prince’s party, one of the demon lord’s servants would come and attack this village, seemingly to exterminate the bloodline of the family that had once sealed him away. Milona and Shanoa’s parents would die during this attack… though she couldn’t remember that clearly because she had honestly skimmed through this shoddy book! Lin Tianyin had felt like it wasn’t worth wasting so much time on this boring story. Was this the curse of this damned author?

Regardless of all this, she had already become the 100kg heavy Shanoa. Lin Tianyin regretfully thought to herself that if she had known this earlier, she would have properly read the story to the end. But no, even then, what use would that be?! Regardless of what else happened in the story, it had nothing to to do with the 100kg fatty! This world was cruel!

Altogether she needed to begin thinking about what she should do. In the original work, the demon lord’s servant burned down this entire village, which was why the two homeless sisters ended up leaving with the prince’s party—though it was probably more accurate to say that the prince mainly wanted the little sister, and the 100kg elder sister was taken along in passing for Milona’s sake. With the attention of all the men focused on Milona, combined with Shanoa’s poor personality to begin with, and furthermore the fact that everyone looked at her with scorn due to her body weight, in the end she developed resentment for her younger sister. This ultimately paved the way for her demise.

—This was entirely the fault of the original author’s horrible taste… a 100kg evil villainess. How does one even imagine such a thing…?

Lin Tianyin who had tragically become Shanoa had no intentions of meddling with the Mary Sue heroine’s harem, but it wasn’t a very good plan to run away from this village before the demon lord’s minion came. In theory, both Milona and her had inherited the bloodline’s ability to cure wounds, so the demon lord wouldn’t let them get away so easily. No matter where they ran, they’d still be killed by the demon lord’s soldiers. It was only because Milona had fortuitously found protection with the prince’s party that they narrowly escaped danger. In other words, even if Lin Tianyin wanted to stay far away from the heroine, it was pointless. She’d have to travel with the prince’s troops until they sealed the demon lord before she’d be spared from death.

Of course, this was based on the condition that she didn’t accidentally get in the way of Milona and get finished off by her wooers.

Even though characters that the original author created weren’t as brainlessly stupid as those from a smut novel, the main reasons why Shanoa was scornfully pushed out was because she was too fat and furthermore had a bad personality. Even though the sisters had the exactly the same blood, there was such a huge difference in treatment… it really feels like it’s true that people in this world only look at pretty faces.

Thinking about how gloomy her prospects were, Lin Tianyin couldn’t help but bitterly bury her chubby face. It felt like nothing good had happened at all…

Ai, in short… let’s start with losing some weight first and then go from there.

Hearing her stomach grumble like thunder, Lin Tianyin suddenly felt a spell of frantic distress from her nearly berserk appetite that had gone mad from hunger.

She really wanted to go downstairs to eat… but no, she couldn’t. She had to restrain herself. In order to make herself normal again, she had to persevere and begin losing weight starting now…

Translator’s Notes:

I really enjoyed reading this novel. It was an absolutely hilarious treat, and Sayuko is a lovely author. As a fan, I just wanted to give this a spin! This is my first time translating a comedy novel, so I’ll try my best with this one.

There’s one very important cultural note that I wanted to make clear here before we start. This isn’t a fat-shaming novel, and in no way was this novel intended to be one, on behalf of the author. There are words that are used casually in this novel that may be considered offensive in English (e.g. “fatty”), but in China these words are very normalized and used frequently (and publicly) more often than they are in the US. It is in fact not uncommon for two people who haven’t met in quite some time to say: “Oh, you’ve become fat since I’ve last saw you!” And this is not intended as an insult. In some situations, it can even be a compliment. In fact I’ve had it said to me by distant family members a few times… T___T

  1. 林天音 (lín tiān yīn). Lin is the #19 most common last name in China, and means “forest”. Tianyin means “sky song”.
  2. The raw is 200 jin, which is equivalent to 100kg (220lbs).
  3. Mary Sue refers to female characters who are idealized/perfect in every regard. It is commonly looked down up as author/reader wish fulfillment.
  4. Sayuko is the real author of this work. She names herself as the fictional author of the trashy Mary Sue novel in a meta reference.
  5. Chuunibyou, a Japanese term meaning “Middle School Syndrome”, referring to the embarrassing imagination that some middle schoolers have.
  6. In the original raw, “What the fuck” is in English.

LOL How *not* to lose weight, starve yourself. How to lose weight, eat plenty of vegetables, as well as some fruits, nuts, seeds, whole grains and lean proteins, drink plenty of water, and exercise, moderately at first and then work slowly up to more vigorous exercise. Get regular and good rest at least 7 to 8 hours sleep. Even if you do lose weight by fasting, if you lose weight in an unhealthy quick manner it makes your skin sag on your body like over size shirt and your much more likely to rebound and gain the wight back.
